What Is The Holiday World?

Holiday World’s full name is Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari. They are a family-owned theme park and water park complex in Santa Claus, Indiana.

Holiday World, home to Thunderbird, America’s only launched wing roller coaster, celebrates various holidays, including Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the Fourth of July. You may experience roller coasters, family rides, a large water park, live entertainment, games, attractions, and, on occasion, Santa Claus himself!

Brief History Of Holiday World

Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, originally known as Santa Claus Land, is a theme and water park in Santa Claus, Indiana, United States. It debuted in 1946 and had rides, live entertainment, and games.

Louis J. Koch, a retired industrialist from Evansville, Indiana, began planning Santa Claus as a retirement project. In 1941, he visited the town of Santa Claus, Indiana, and predicted that children who came would be disappointed when Santa Claus was not present. This inspired him to create a park where children could have fun and visit Santa all year round. Santa Claus Land officially launched on August 3, 1946.

It was separated into four sections to commemorate Christmas, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the Fourth of July. This park eventually became known as Holiday World, and it now contains three wooden roller coasters, the most notable of which being The Voyage, which has continuously been named one of the greatest in the world.

Another impressive aspect of this park is its two steel coasters. This water park has two of the world’s largest water coasters: Wildebeest (1,710 feet long) and Mammoth, which holds the Guinness World Record for the world’s longest water coaster at 1,763 ft. This water park also offers a launched water coaster, raft rides, and water slides.

One noteworthy fact is that Splashin’ Safari, a water park, debuted in 1993, after Holiday World.

Ranking

It was named one of the nation’s top water parks, boasting the world’s two longest water coasters, family water slides, two wave pools, and youth water activities. These parks have been voted the world’s cleanest over the years.

These are just a few of the features available in their parks.

Recent Developments

Unfortunately, this entertaining venue is temporarily closed until May 3, 2024. This is due to expected additions. The park recently revealed plans for a new area called Stuffing Springs, which was previously home to Pilgrims Plunge. This region includes Good Gravy, a Vekoma Family Boomerang. It also has a playground for children and additional facilities.
